itinerary highlights

  • Departing from Longyearbyen with a day of coast sailing in the surrounding Fjords
  • Anchor in Isafjordur, northwest coast of Iceland (800 nm)
  • Two-day stay in Isafjordur, allowing to visit the idyllic town and day treks.
  • Final leg to Greenland (400 nm)– Kulusuk, crossing the Greenland Sea, one of the remotest sailing areas on the planet.
  • Arriving to Kulusuk, the gateaway to east Greenland, dominated by tall icebergs, steep mountains falling into the sea, glaciers.

We will be setting sail from Longyearbyen in the midst of the Polar Summer, with day and night becoming one in the High Arctic, blossoming nature, magically contrasting colors and abundant animal life, from walruses and seals to whales as well as migratory birds and the mighty polar bear. We will be exposed to this exceptional gift of nature by taking a day for coastal sailing into nearby fjords, quite a special way to get acquainted with the boat and crew.

From there, we will be setting course to cross the Greenland Sea, but on our course, weather permitting, we will take the opportunity to anchor in Isafjordur on the northwest ti of Iceland, bordered on three sides by dramatic mountains that form a natural harbor. The idyllic town of Ísafjörður is well worth the visit and also offers many day trekking opportunities over a 2 day stay.

We will set sail on our final 400 nm leg across the Greenland Sea, headed to the colourful village of Kulusuk, often surrounded by floating icebergs, the gateway to East Greenland. You may consider spending time in Kulusuk as a base to explore the nearby region, like the majestic Sermilk Ffjord, surrounded by a steep mountainous shoreline and filled with sculpted icebergs.
From Kulusuk you have regular flights to Reykjavik (international hub) or Nuuk.
